Lise Grande, the UN Deputy Humanitarian Regional Coordinator, told the media on Wednesday in Juba that the approximately 150 incidents of armed conflicts have displaced over 93,000 people and left them in an overwhelming need for humanitarian assistance.

According to her, the rising number of displaced persons has obstructed the recovery and transition programme of the soon-to-be independent state. The UN further estimates that more than 800 people have been killed in clashes since January. Marvis Birungi has the details:
