Tackling cattle rustling a priority for newly trained ‘peace mobilisers’
Cattle rustling is a common practice in South Sudan, causing havoc among people and a cycle of revenge violence.
‘Peace mobilisers’ drawn from all 10 states across South Sudan and Abyei participated in a training organised by the Committee for National Healing, Peace and Reconciliation in Yei.

Peace and reconciliation in South Sudan — but how?During their graduation ceremony on October 29, the trainees said that cattle rustling is one the pressing issues they will try to address once they have returned to their respective home area.
The training was facilitated by the Institute for Justice and Reconciliation from South Africa and the Initiatives for Change as well as experts from South Sudan, Kenya, Zimbabwe and South Africa.
