The Nile Basin Media Network is an umbrella in for media professionals and organisations committed to fostering constructive narratives surrounding the Nile Basin, strengthening media capacities and networks in the region, and promoting fact-based and solution-oriented reporting and collaboration among its members.
The Nile Basin Media Network was originally established with support from the Deutsche Gesellschaft fuer Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, commissioned by the German Federal Foreign Office (AA), and is currently coordinated by Media in Cooperation and Transition (MiCT) and partners and governed by an Annual General Meeting of members.
The Niles is the main publication platform of the network and has been bringing journalists together over cross-border issues since 2009. Since 2017, it has aimed to support transboundary water cooperation in the Nile Basin.
