Ugandan MPs split over UPDF deployment to South Sudan

Some Ugandan Members of Parliament support President Museveni’s decision to deploy the Ugandan army (UPDF) to South Sudan, days after dozens of opposition MPs opposed the deployment.

Uganda sent its troops to South Sudan during Christmas holidays when law makers were on recess. When MPs learnt about the deployment the law makers criticised President Yoweri Museveni for failing to consult the country’s law makers.
