Semi-autonomous Southern Sudan held a referendum last month, in which nearly 99% of registered voters opted in favour of full independence. Meanwhile neighbouring countries throughout North Africa and the Middle East have gone through radical changes, forcing some of their leaders out of office. The citizens of the soon to become independent Southern Sudan choose to give their government a chance to deliver what the independence promises.
