Bishops appeal for end to violence in South Sudan and Sudan

Catholic Bishops from both Sudan and South Sudan are calling for concerted efforts to end the current humanitarian and political crises in South Sudan.

The bishops addressed a press conference in Juba on January 31, at the end of a 10-day meeting to review the ongoing events in both countries. The bishops met under their umbrella organisation, the Sudan Catholic Bishops Regional Conference.

Among other things they particularly called for good governance to prevent future conflicts in South Sudan. They also want an inclusive dialogue to resolve the dispute between factions of the ruling SPLM party.
