UN appeals for USD 1.3 billion to support people in South Sudan

Hundreds of thousands of people have been displaced from their homes since violence erupted in Juba over six weeks ago.

Officials say the bulk of the money will be used to provide food assistance to the affected population between now and June.

Officials expect the situation to deteriorate once the rainy season begins.
