South Sudan humanitarian appeal seeks USD 1.1 billion

The Government of South Sudan and aid agencies launched the humanitarian appeal for 2014-2016 on Thursday, November 14, to meet the needs of the most vulnerable 3.1 million people across the country.

Government and UN officials said while the number of people requiring assistance has reduced for the first time since 2011, food insecurity, inter-communal violence, arrival of refugees and returnees, continue to affect South Sudan.
