South Sudan’s food shortage alarming

United Nations agencies say civil strife and unfavourable rains have further reduced crop production in South Sudan, contributing to a cereal deficit of 381,000 metric tons.

The Food and Agricultural Organization (FOA) and the World Food Programme (WFP) in South Sudan say the situation has aggravated already severe food shortages across the country.
