The victims are said to have been tapping petrol from a fuel tanker that overturned along Faragsika road on Wednesday, September 16, 2015, when it caught fire and exploded. A source said: “Youths are burnt to ashes and many others are being rushed to Maridi hospital with terrible injuries.” Many victims admitted to hospital are in critical condition and the death toll is expected to rise.
Maridi County Commissioner, Wilson Thomas Yanga told The Niles by phone that the death toll is still increasing. He added that other fire victims are transferred to Juba. “I have no clear information on the declaration of three days of mourning by the state government now, because everybody is busy but that will be later.”
