Eastern Equatoria builds hydropower dam
The government of Eastern Equatoria State acquired a USD 27 million loan from a Chinese bank to build a 5-megawatt hydropower dam on Kineti River.

South Sudan’s National Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning signed the loan agreement with China’s Exim Bank on Tuesday, July 2.
The dam is supposed to provide enough power for two of the state’s counties. The construction of the dam, a 14-month project, begins this week.
