Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi said last week that he did not want to start a war, although he warned that his government would not allow Egypt’s water supply to be endangered and that he was keeping all options open”.

Egypt fears the dam will reduce the water supply and affect some 84 million people who depend on the Nile’s water.

In a move that will likely upset Egypt even more, South Sudan recently announced plans to build its own hydroelectric power dams on the Nile.
