Unity State’s Governor Taban Deng Gai, as many other State Governors, cut the salaries and allowances of civil servants due to the country-wide austerity measures following South Sudan’s shut-down of oil production earlier this year.

According to Unity State Legislative Assembly Speaker Simon Maguek Gai, civil servants face hardship due to the cuts and therefore requests a review of the order.
