As peace negotiations between South Sudan’s warring parties drag on in Ethiopia, and amid a worsening man-made humanitarian catastrophe, people from all realms of life have started initiatives aimed at bringing peace to South Sudan.
Whilst the spotlight is on the peace negotiations in Ethiopia, Friederike Bubenzer from the Institute for Justice and Reconciliation in South Africa, says the negotiations are not a holistic approach that will bring lasting peace, healing and reconciliation.
She believes the peace process has to be based on the people at the grassroots level and not the political elites who fight for their own reasons.
