Hou Akot Hou

Hou works as State Correspondent for different print and audio publications and joined The Niles project in April 2012. He started working for Humanitarian aid agencies involved with protection and advocacy. While working with the International Rescue Committee (IRC), Hou developed his interest in journalism by reporting on all the struggles of the returnees. Hou believes that it is crucial to get information out to the masses be it online, through radio, print, video or any other medium. He says that “communication is power because our daily lives are always filled with questions and we are always looking for the answers”. His motto is “writers are not born, but through practice they venture into a professional way of passing information on”, which pushes him to persevere and to improve his skills through every report he does. Hou dreams of earning a degree in Mass communication.
